8 I have baptized you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”[a]
Jesus Is Baptized by John.[b] 9 At that time,[c] Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan. 10 [d]And as he was coming up out of the water, he beheld the heavens break open and the Spirit descending upon him like a dove.

- Mark 1:9 Mark retains only the essential elements of the divine manifestation, which here is given only to Jesus, whose mission is announced.
